100 km east of Hama; Isriya (Seriana) has a wonderful temple that stands alone south of the former citadel promontory. Isriya was once a crossing point for several Roman routes including that from Chalcis (Qinnesrin) to Palmyra and from Resafa to Selemiya, passing through countryside which was considerably more fertile than it is today.
