100 km east of Hama; Isriya (Seriana) has a
wonderful temple that stands alone south of
the former citadel promontory. Isriya was
once a crossing point for several Roman
routes including that from Chalcis
(Qinnesrin) to Palmyra and from Resafa to
Selemiya, passing through countryside which
was considerably more fertile than it is
